Mercedes -Benz recently sold the most expensive car in the world. The rare car was made in 1955, Mercedes -Benz Coupe, which was bought by an unknown person for 135 million euros, equivalent to $ 142 million.

This price makes it the most expensive car that has been sold ever, according to Hagirty, which tracks rare cars.

Mercedes said the outcome of the sale would be used to establish the Mercedes Benz Fund, a global scholarship fund.

This comes, while the previous record for the most expensive car in the world was at $ 70 million in 2018 for the Ferrari 250 GT production of 1963, according to the "CNN" network, and it was seen by "Al Arabiya.net".

The Mercedes, which was sold only one of the two models "300 SLR UHlenhaut Coupe", which was called the name of the chief Mercedes engineer at the time, Rudolf Olinhout, is claimed that its maximum speed is 186 miles per hour.

The car was sold at a closed auction with calls only at the Mercedes -Benz Museum in Stuttgart on May 5, where the auction was held in cooperation with the RM Sotheby's auto auction company.

The other UHlenhaut Coupe will remain in the museum collection, according to a statement from the company.

For his part, Brian Rabold, the deputy chief of auto intelligence in Hajari, said: "Their racing cars of the thirties and 1950s are rare, and most of them are still owned by the factory, so any car that is offered in the market is strongly required."

The Mercedes "Gullwing" SLR - which is called this name because of the doors that rise like curved wings - is one of the most desirable cars in the world.

SLR UHlenhaut Coupe was basically a modified version of the famous SLR SLR race with an open -roof of Mercedes, which works with a 300 hp engine and eight cylinders. The idea was to manufacture a closed car to better protect the driver from wind and weather in the event of a high speed, while the closed ceiling also improves aerodynamics.

Shortly after the development of these cars, Mercedes stopped its participation in motorsport, so the car was not used in the competitions.

While the identity of the new car owner is still unknown, British classic car dealer Simon Kedston claimed in a press statement that he made the winning offer on behalf of a customer.
